What is #CaptureMySun?

• #CaptureMySun is a Nationwide initiative spearheaded by MYSUN in collaboration with Corporates, Independent groups, Institutions and Media Houses to help build the chatter around the enormous solar potential that India as a country possess, while engaging in a passion that captures people across age groups, occupations and lifestyles.
• While we have been able to harness the tremendous power of the sun and the solar energy by making technology lead advancements by building efficient solar systems and more, the photographers still find it challenging shooting the sun or a subject directly in the presence of sun.
• #CaptureMySun, therefore is an invitation to the photographers, both amateur and professional ones to join us in the initiative and capture the sun, in all its power, beauty and gorgeous faces.
• The initiative will touch various cities across India starting from Mumbai on December 18, 2017. The jury will be declared before the competition opens up and will feature eminent personalities from the world of renewable energy, environment protection, media houses, photography and beyond to take this mantle.
• After Mumbai, where #CaptureMySun collaborated with Mumbai Instagrammers (mumbai_igers) for the photo walk, the initiative will move to a different city and from there to yet another city. We plan to cover more than 20 cities in a short span of 6 months and capture the Sun against all possible settings showcasing the tremendous beauty and enormous power that it possesses.
• The first set of cities post Mumbai were Bengaluru and Hyderabad. The walk took place in Bengaluru on February 4, 2017 from 3PM at Sanket Tank and in Hyderabad on February 5, 2017 from 3PM at Qutub Shahi Tank.
• Post Bengaluru and Hyderabad, we are coming to Gujarat with the photo walk to be held in Ahmedabad on February 26, 2017 at the Sabarmati Riverfront market from 4PM onwards.
• As a token of appreciation, two best entries from the state of Gujarat will be given Rs 4,000 worth Amazon vouchers.
• We want to make #CaptureMySun reach every corner of the country and therefore, this time, not only are we inviting you to share pictures from Ahmedabad, but from anywhere in the state of Gujarat. So if you are from a city in Gujarat are unable to join us for the walk, you can still share your pictures and be eligible for the prizes.
• At the end of the initiative all the city winners and their efforts will be put together for choosing one Grand National Winner called the 'Starrrrr Photographer', who will win a grand prize.

What can you Shoot and how do you participate?

• When you participate in the #CaptureMySun initiative, you are free to shoot the sun against any background, in any setting, in absolutely any way you want. We do not mind you capturing pictures of people making the most out of the energy of the sun by basking the glory on a beach either. In fact, anything and everything related to the sun is welcome.
• You can participate by registering on this page if you are joining us for a walk in the mentioned city, or if you are unable to make it for the photo walk, you can simply geotag the picture from the city that we are at the time covering and submit them on Instagram with a hashtag #CaptureMySun.
• Please do not restrict yourself to just clicking the pictures with sun in the image, feel free and shoot everything under the sun, under the influence of sun.
• We welcome everyone, amateurs, professionals, semi-professionals, even hobby photographers to come and make this initiative a grand one. Therefore, whether you click with an expensive DSLR, or an iPhone or even a feature phone, as long as you do, you are most invited. Until we look for, feel, see and appreciate the power of sun, we would not harness it. And harnessing renewable sources of energy is the call of the hour today.
• We would love it if you take this initiative and reach out to your friends, family members and colleagues too. In fact, you could even go ahead and organize a photo walk in your RWA or office. Just give us a shout out if you plan something like that and we would be more than glad to support you.

Rules of the game

There is only one rule of #CaptureMySun, that there is no rule. As long as you look at the sun, think about us, click a picture, we are more than glad. But if you want to be eligible to win the awesome prizes that we are giving away, you may want to do the following:

• Tag all the pictures with #CaptureMySun in the caption
• Ideally, add the geolocation on the picture when you upload it so we can verify its the entry from a region that we are running the initiative in.
• Share this page, with your friends, family members and encourage them to join you.
• Only the entries that come to us within 2 weeks of the contest going live, that is till Monday, March 20, 2017, 23:59 IST will be considered valid for participation and awards.
