The government will offer the following subsidies for installing solar panels under the Rooftop Solar Scheme:

The subsidy for Group Housing Societies (GHS) and Resident Welfare Associations (RWA) is Rs. 18,000 per kilowatt (kW) for shared facilities, including electric vehicle (EV) charging stations up to 500 kW capacity. This subsidy is Rs. 3 per kW per house. The total amount includes any individual rooftop solar plants installed by residents within the GHS or RWA. Some states like Uttar Pradesh have higher subsidy. An applicant must be an Indian citizen with a valid electricity connection.
The rooftop should be owned by the applicant and fit for solar panels.
No previous benefits should have been claimed under other solar subsidy schemes
To start, make sure you're eligible for the clean energy subsidy. The PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana has a simple application process:
Click the 'Apply for Rooftop Solar' button on the homepage.
Select your state, district, and electricity distribution company, enter your customer account number, and click 'Next'.
Enter your mobile number and email, then click 'Proceed'.
Fill out the 'Apply for Rooftop Solar Installation' form, upload documents, and click 'Final Submission'.
Wait for DISCOM's feasibility approval, then install the plant through a registered vendor like MYSUN.
After installation, MYSUN's CRM team will submit plant details and apply for a Net Meter.
Upon DISCOM inspection and net meter installation, a commissioning certificate will be generated.
Submit your bank account details and a canceled cheque on the portal to receive the subsidy within 30 days.
